I don’t know you; I came across an article about your conversion on CNN news. I am delighted that you have found the love of God; I am somehow offended that you have chosen the Catholic Church. With all its immorality in leadership, its disregard for truth, let alone God’s Truth, its dismissal of the work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of female religious and in the call to priesthood among women, its rejection of homosexuals as disordered, yet its acceptance of large numbers of homosexuals into the priesthood, its protection and promotion of child abusers and their bishops, its total and absolute disregard for the spiritual and emotional torment of child victims and their families… it is impossible for me to find the Truth that is Jesus within the contemporary Catholic Church.
I wish you well, I hope you can take Jesus with you on your journey into Catholicism and remain faithful to the guidance of the Truth.

The sexually abusive priests aren’t “homosexual”. They are pedophiles. Most gays would strenuously disagree with your characterization.

My writing is perhaps confusing. I will edit it. Accepting homosexuals into the priesthood is a fact, and I have no problem with it. I do have a problem with the hypocrisy: the Church describes homosexuals as “disordered.” In other words we’ll hire them but we do not accept them. I can’t imagine the pain that casues homosexuals in the priesthood. All priests have to accept celibacy, so sexual orientation should not make a difference. Neither should it be a reason to ascribe a flawed human nature to those who are gay.
The second point was that the Church has harbored sexual predators of children – knowingly protecting and reassigning admitted pedophiles. Pedophiles are a second group, completely separate and distinct from homosexuals. Pedophile priests are afforded more respect and acceptance then homosexual priests, which makes no rational sense. Homosexuals are attracted to adults of the same gender; pedophiles are attracted to pre-pubescent children. Pedophile priests are not labelled disordered by the Church, although they are. They are not treated as criminals, although they are. They are not held morally or fiscally responsible for the effects of the abuse in the lives of the children they molest and sodomize, and in the lives of the families of these victims, although they are.
I hope this is much clearer.
